The reason I've kept re-booking Lewis for voice-over jobs for 10 years is that his talent far exceeds the abilities of other voice overs! This promo I did for Nickelodeon 'Danger Time' reaffirms that. You will not be able to find a voice whose range is as diverse as his. In my opinion this promo shows off Lewis's creative ability to impersonate imaginary characters; the American News Reader, Nasa control room, Meditation instructor... The change in his voice, ability to do impressions and accents means that you would never know it was the same voice-over for this entire spot. Not only that, he has a great sense of rhythm and can sing incredibly well! Working with Lewis for this promo was an absolute pleasure! As a Creative person it was wonderful to explore artistic options with him so it could become an Award Winning Promo! Yes, that's right - it won a PromaxBDA UK Gold and I'm sure if I'd have picked any other VO it would not have achieved this status.
Lewis MacLeod is the most versatile voice talent I've ever had the pleasure of working with in my twenty plus years of recording voice. He has a vast range of voices in his locker, from assured with gravitas all the way up to a seemingly unending list of madcap comedy characters. The sheer energy and enthusiasm he brings to the process will often mean that you'll get more out of your script than you thought possible.
When I know the voice talent on the production is going to be Lewis I always have a sense of relief because I know the recording will likely go well, (and of course with a bit of fun), because Lewis is superb at taking a brief and delivering it; Whether it’s a character, or straight read, he always delivers good consistent reads, which he can accurately tweak with further direction. What sets him apart is his ability to add subtle nuances and tweaks that make his performance more believable and convincing, it’s not just a ‘read’ or a ‘performance’, he is that person, that character, and when you hear it, it often creates a ‘wow’ moment. He's a friendly and patient person too, so no matter what tensions may be going on in the control room (or on Zoom!), and however many changes there may be, he just rides it through calmly and without fuss, and making life easier for everyone.
Working with Lewis is often the most fun part of the job. He's incredibly versatile, immediately knows what to do with any comedy script you throw at him and always brings added value. The best in the biz!
